The names of bar shots aren’t always classy. In fact, some are straight up in bad taste.

But the shots themselves don’t taste bad, so we’re going to propose a more palatable name for this very palatable drink: a pink lemonade fizz. Doesn’t that sound much better than a pink panty dropper?

While palatable, this shot still isn’t exactly elegant, even with its new and improved name. If you’ve never had one before, the traditional pink panty dropper drink ingredients are beer, lemonade mix or concentrate, and vodka. Panty dropper shots don’t take themselves too seriously, and while they may not be suitable for your family get-togethers, they’re just the thing for a bachelorette party.

Below, we’ll show you how to make the infamous pink panty-dropper cocktail, and we’ll give you a few variations, including a frozen option. If anything can take a tacky shot and make it sillier, it’s blending it into a slush.

We’ll also show you how to make this drink with different types of lemonade and how to take the alcohol volume down a notch with an alternative mixer. In other words, we’ll make sure there’s something for everyone, even if you didn’t believe this drink was for you when you first started reading. The best drink recipes can be served in so many ways, and this mix makes a great punch recipe, too.

Pink panty dropper recipe with vodka

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: None

Total time: 15 minutes

Servings: 24 shots

Ingredients

  • 12 cans of beer

  • 24 ounce can of pink lemonade concentrate

  • 24 ounces of vodka (roughly a whole bottle)

  • Strawberry and lemon slices (for garnish)

Glassware

  • Large container like pitcher (you may have to work in batches) or a clean 5-gallon bucket

  • 24 shot glasses

Bartender’s tip: You can also serve this drink as a cocktail. If you plan to make bigger drinks, have roughly 6 cocktail glasses on hand.

Preparation instructions

  1. In the large pitcher (or several), combine the lemonade concentrate and the vodka. Stir to mix well. You may have to work in batches depending on the size of your pitcher. If that’s the case, try to divide the liquid equally between each round. If you’re using a 5-gallon bucket, you can add all the ingredients without risking that they’ll overflow.

  2. Add in the fruit slices and stir gently to combine.

  3. Pour the liquid between 6-12 shot glasses, then top up with beer. Add the beer slowly, as this cocktail is quite fizzy.

  4. Garnish with a lemon wedge or a sliced strawberry.

Bartender’s tip: To make this shot a cocktail, add the beer directly to the pitchers or the 5-gallon bucket. Stir again to combine all the flavors before pouring the drink into individual glasses over ice.

If you’re having a party, you can increase the recipe proportions to make a large batch. Using water to prepare the lemonade (as per the instructions on the concentrate container) also helps to increase the volume and decrease the alcohol concentration. Leave the cocktail out in a drink dispenser or punch bowl so that guests can serve themselves.

Variations

Pink panty dropper recipe with Malibu:

Who doesn’t love coconut rum? Luckily, other brave souls have already tried this shot recipe with coconut rum and made a tasty frozen pink panty dropper. Don’t worry; they’ve omitted the beer, which we’re sure would taste very bitter in contrast with the sweet coconut rum.

To make this decadent creation, add one-half cup of pink lemonade concentrate, 3 ounces of peach vodka, 2 ounces of Malibu rum, one-half cup of vanilla ice cream, one-half cup of frozen strawberries, and 1 cup of crushed ice to a blender. Liquify until smooth and pour the slushy out into two large cocktail glasses. Lean into the hedonism and top the drink with whipped cream and maraschino cherries. If you feel like making a large batch, it makes a great rum punch.

Pink panty dropper drink recipe with Crystal Light:

Watch out for this drink. It’s the ultimate party drink, but we’re warning you now. This drink contains 2 entire bottles of hard liquor because it’s meant to serve a crowd, so proceed with caution. To make, combine 18 cans of beer, 1 bottle of Everclear, 1 bottle of tequila, and 1 ½ jugs of Crystal Light pink lemonade. (You’ll have to prepare the Crystal Light as per the package instructions before adding it in.) Mix the liquids in a party-sized drink dispenser or large sterilized bucket. Stir the liquid with a large mixing spoon to combine all of the flavors. Let guests serve themselves, and don’t forget to put a little sign out that details what’s in this drink.

Pink panty dropper recipe with Sprite:

As if a direct response to the recipe right above this one, this version tones down the beverage’s alcohol content for a more sophisticated and refreshing experience. To make, follow the original shot recipe given in the tutorial above, and swap the 12-pack of beer for a 12-pack of Sprite or 7-Up or other lemon-lime soda.

DIY pink lemonade fizz:

The drinks buff of the internet have spoken: You can make this recipe with virtually any hard liquor. We strongly recommend steering clear of the tutorials that include moonshine, as this alcohol is made illegally and can be very dangerous for your health. That said, try substituting the vodka in the recipe for other hard liquors like tequila, gin, and even whisky. As for the beer component, get creative. This recipe works with whatever beer you have on hand, from a delicious, hoppy IPA to a citrusy light beer like Corona, so experiment with different types.
