Supporting New York through Community Partnerships, Local Giving, and Job Opportunities

Here’s how we’re showing up for the city that never sleeps

February 24, 2022

From Washington Heights to Bushwick, Gopuff is proud to be a member of the NYC community.

To us, showing up for New York City means being a good neighbor. So here’s a bit more about how Gopuff is investing in the NYC community.

Being Part of the Neighborhood

Gopuff is deeply committed to being a good community partner in the neighborhoods where we operate. We regularly communicate with delivery partners about being safe and courteous when picking up and delivering orders, and will continue to take action to ensure this is a top priority for our entire organization as we grow in the New York market.

In New York City specifically, we focus on delivery with bikes, electric bikes, and e-mopeds whenever possible. Not only does this help to limit road congestion and reduce emissions, but it also helps to lower the financial barrier to entry for delivery partners who may not be able to afford a car in New York City. While efficiency and quick delivery is central to our mission in the communities we serve, our delivery partners and neighbors’ safety is paramount.

We will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure that we are true partners and meet the needs of the neighborhoods and communities we serve.

Supporting The Community

Gopuff is particularly proud of our close relationship with Covenant House, a charity that gives shelter and support to youth who are experiencing homelessness and/or have experienced trafficking.

We’ve donated hundreds of essentials and personal care items and thousands of dollars in credits to help these local youth residents who have been through so much.

To give the youth residents at Covenant House NY a night out, we recently got together with NBA All-Star James Harden and his Impact13 Foundation to bring 20 youth residents to a Brooklyn Nets game.

And to further support these youth residents, we’ve developed a pipeline to employment program that has already led to a number of youth residents from the New York Covenant House landing roles with Gopuff.

“What sets our partnership with Gopuff apart is their ability to understand our local needs and their unmatched capabilities to get essential items and food into the hands of the young people in our care. Together we are able to strengthen our support for at-risk youth experiencing homelessness within our shared community.”

Gopuff also has a long-standing relationship with Feeding America across the U.S. In New York alone, Gopuff donated over 6,000 pounds of goods to the NYC City Harvest Food Bank from September – December 2021, and gave a $10,000 donation to the Food Bank for New York City. We’ll continue growing this important partnership in 2022 and beyond.

Delivering Your Local Faves

We’re showing up for New York City in other ways too, like by giving New Yorkers the chance to easily buy their favorite local brands and supporting these local businesses to reach even more customers. In fact, we’ve already partnered with dozens of beloved local New York brands to bring their products right to your door.

  • If you’re craving chocolate, you can pick from Raaka’s Bananas Foster chocolate bar, Waffle Cone chocolate bar, and others.

  • You can grab a local black cherry seltzer & kettle cooked chips from Hal’s New York, which Hal’s fellow New Yorkers can have delivered with the click of a button.

  • Or check out NYC-based Juice Press for a health and wellness selection, including their plant-based White Truffle Popcorn and cold pressed Mother Earth juice.

Part of the power of Gopuff’s platform is also our ability to scale inventory up or down quickly, leveraging order data, market trends, and more to localize and adjust inventory based on what our customers need.

For example, during the COVID-19 Omicron spike, when New Yorkers were looking to quickly test themselves for COVID without leaving their homes, Gopuff was there with at-home rapid tests via contact-free delivery. In fact, sales of COVID tests from Gopuff’s customers in New York City increased on average by over 560% week over week in the weeks leading up to New Years 2021. We were not only the first instant needs company to provide delivery of COVID test kits in the U.S., but no matter how high demand surged, we held prices steady so that our customers knew they could rely on us.

Delivering what you want when you want it and being a platform that helps local NYC brands reach even more customers at the click of a button – that’s the real Gopuff magic.

We are honored to be part of New York City’s growing tech ecosystem and vibrant culture. We will continue to show up for our neighborhoods and help New York City families, businesses and community organizations reemerge from the COVID-19 pandemic stronger than ever.
