Picking up this wine is picking up a piece of history in the world of wine. Lange Estates was the fourth winery to grow Pinot Gris in the United States. At that time, nobody even knew what this grape was in this country. Today, Pinot Gris, or Pinot Grigio, is one of the most drank wines out there, but if it wasn't for these pioneers of wine, maybe things would have been a little different. The nose offers expressive aromas of ripe pear, yellow apple, and white flowers with a hint of green mango. On the palate, a sleek, medium-bodied frame balances crisp citrus zest and honeyed nectarine. It finishes long and refreshingly clean, marked by bracing acidity, a subtly rounded texture, and a distinct wet stone minerality. Whether you are into the history of the wine or not, you are still getting a great bottle of wine.
